Volunteer: Donation Sorter

Each day, Wheeler Mission is blessed with a large amount of donations. The best of our donations go directly to needs at our shelters.  Others new and gently used items are sold to the community, the Store helps fund life-changing programs. Volunteers sort and organize donations alongside staff members and other volunteers.

The time slots listed are suggested serving times.  Please feel free to contact me if you would like a custom time slot for you or your group!  ellenbugler@wheelermission.org

Qualifications:

A servant's heart, a good work ethic, and a positive attitude. Able to do manual labor for at least two hours, work well with others, listen to instructions, and carry out assigned tasks with minimum supervision. The minimum age for volunteering is 10. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or adult while serving.

For this shift, you will sort and organize donations to be sent to our shelters or sold in our thrift store where the proceeds go back to serve and care for our guests!

Entrance & Sign In

Parking: Please park in the lot beside our location. Sign in & out by using the kiosk, scanning the QR code near the front desk, with the app on your smartphone, the link in your email or on the sign-in sheet.

Groups & Youth  

You are able self-register your group! Learn how here.  All volunteers over age 13 are required to sign up online or have a parent or guardian sign a waiver.   We require 1 adult for every 5 youth under age 18.  If you have a larger group than slots available, please reach out. We can likely still accommodate your group.

Other Information 

Dress code: Please wear closed-toed, closed-back shoes (no Crocs), and shirts with sleeves. Please dress modestly. Photography and videography: You are welcome to take photos of our buildings and your volunteer group, but photographs/videos including guests and residents are prohibited.  Personal belongings: Please leave belongings in a locked vehicle and out of sight. Wheeler is not responsible for lost or stolen property.  Be Flexible: We ask that you come to your scheduled volunteer time with a patient heart and extend flexibility if your opportunity does not go as anticipated!
